From the Estação Cabo Branco, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, to the photographic collection of the Casa da Pólvora, the capital gathers free cultural spaces.

The city's main cultural landmark is the Estação Cabo Branco – Ciência, Cultura e Artes, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and opened on July 3, 2008, in the Cabo Branco neighborhood. The space was conceived to bring culture, art, science and technology to the population free of charge, and includes an observation tower with an exhibition hall, an auditorium for more than 500 people, convention rooms, an amphitheater and spaces for artistic-cultural education. By the end of 2025, the institution had held 34 exhibitions that year, reinforcing its role as a reference cultural facility in the city.

Another important hub is the Espaço Cultural José Lins do Rego, run by the Paraíba Cultural Space Foundation (Funesc) and opened in 1982. The complex brings together, under one roof, the Archidy Picado Gallery, the José Lins do Rêgo Museum — dedicated to the Paraíba-born writer and member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters —, the Anthenor Navarro School of Music, theaters (Arena and Paulo Pontes), a planetarium, a circus school and the Juarez da Gama Batista Library.

In the Historic Center, the Casa da Pólvora, on Ladeira de São Francisco — the city's first street —, now houses the Walfredo Rodrigues Photographic Museum, with a permanent exhibition of old photographs of João Pessoa, open daily. The Convento de Santo Antônio complex, meanwhile, partly operates as the Sacred Art Museum-School of Paraíba, gathering pieces of religious art from the colonial centuries.

Together, these spaces form a cultural itinerary that combines modern architecture, colonial heritage and the city's literary and photographic memory — most of them with free admission.
