Italian restaurants and pasta houses in João Pessoa

Italian cuisine in the capital ranges from the traditional trattoria in Tambaú to recent restaurants along the waterfront.

João Pessoa's Italian cuisine has gained new addresses in the last three years, while also keeping long-standing venues. Appetito Trattoria, in Tambaú, is described by Paraíba Business, on September 18, 2025, as one of the city's most traditional Italian restaurants. The venue reopened with a renovated space and a new menu, led by chef Samir Heckert, mixing classic dishes and new creations. Jornal da Paraíba had already included it, in January 2024, in a list of ten recommended restaurants for the capital.

On the Manaíra waterfront, Tramice Ristorante opened in November 2024, according to Paraíba Business, in a historic mansion on Avenida João Maurício. The venue has a menu created by chef Andréia Fernandes and a wine list with more than a hundred labels, giving priority to Italian ones. Still in Tambaú, Famiglia Muccini holds a monthly Italian night with artisanal pastas and live music performances, according to the same outlet in March 2025.

Other venues appeared in waves of openings recorded by the press. Polêmica Paraíba reported, in January 2024, the opening of Limone e Capperi, a trattoria in Manaíra, and of TZÁ, in Jardim Oceania. In March 2023, the same site listed Pasta Way, in Cabo Branco, as a franchise unit for artisanal pastas with more than fifty combinations.

The picture the sources show is one of predominance of à la carte service, with a wine list, and concentration in the stretch running from Tambaú to Manaíra and Cabo Branco, near the sea. The reports do not allow one to state when Italian immigration or cuisine arrived in the capital, nor to point to the "best" venue. Prices and hours change frequently and should be confirmed with each restaurant.
