A survey by Jornal da Paraíba points to neighborhood botecos with bar snacks, broths and live music.

A boteco, in João Pessoa, tends to be a place for a sidewalk table, a snack to share and a cold beer. Rather than picking the city's best, this guide gathers what the local press has described in recent years, without ranking and without stating operating hours.

In a survey on happy hour bars published in September 2023, Qual a Boa, from Jornal da Paraíba, cites boteco-style venues in different neighborhoods. Velho Chico, in Manaíra, is described as a traditional boteco, with fried food, goat stew and drinks. Bar do Galo, in Torre, also appears as a traditional boteco option. In Jardim Oceania, Bar Seu João offers outdoor tables, broths and feijoada, according to the report. In Bessa, Boteco's 83 is noted for live music, with forró, sertanejo, samba and pagode, plus bar snacks and beer.

Comida di Buteco, the national competition celebrating boteco cuisine, had editions in dozens of cities in 2026, according to the press. We did not find, in the sources consulted, confirmation of a leg in João Pessoa, so no Paraíba venue is associated with the competition here.
