The Farol Digital ecosystem already brings together around 4,300 companies in Greater João Pessoa, according to Sebrae.
Beyond tourism and public administration, João Pessoa has been building a hub for technology and digital services. One of the most cited examples is the growth of Minsait, a technology consultancy belonging to the Spanish Indra group, which announced in 2025 its goal of doubling its operation in the Paraíba capital by 2026, with the aim of turning the local branch into a national hub for the company, alongside units already established in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Brasília.
This movement is supported by a broader innovation ecosystem, Farol Digital, an environment that brings together companies, universities and support agencies in Greater João Pessoa. According to Sebrae, the ecosystem already counts around 4,300 companies organized around the innovation and technology agenda in the metropolitan region, a number cited by the organization's president, Jaldo Pequeno, as evidence of the sector's strength in the capital.
This progress is also driven by the local academic tradition: the presence of public and federal universities in the city has been cited as a factor sustaining the training of skilled labor and fueling the emergence of startups, in a scenario where Paraíba has been trying to establish itself as an innovation reference in the Northeast.
Although the services sector already accounts for the largest share of value added in the João Pessoa economy, as shown in the article on the sectors driving the city's growth, the specifically digital and technological component is still small compared to trade and public administration, but it is pointed to by experts as one of the areas with the greatest potential for expansion in the coming years.
