A sequence of linear parks in the Bessa neighborhood is being linked together by a new project combining urban infrastructure and environmental preservation.

In recent years João Pessoa has been expanding a network of linear parks known as Parahyba I, II, III and IV, located mainly in the Bessa area, next to preservation zones linked to the course of the Paraíba River. In September 2025, then-acting mayor Leo Bezerra launched the "Caminho dos Parques" (Path of the Parks) project, which aims to link Parque da Cidade, in Aeroclube, to the four Parahyba Parks, creating a continuous green corridor between different parts of the city.

Parque Linear Parahyba IV is one of those that has received joint technical monitoring from the João Pessoa City Hall and the State Government, with inspections aimed at conserving the area and its public-use infrastructure, according to a statement released by the City Hall in October 2024.

In parallel, the waterfront has also been receiving investment in gathering spaces: in January 2026, the City Hall published a bidding notice to requalify Largo da Gameleira, located between the beaches of Tambaú and Manaíra, planning more green area and gathering space for residents and tourists, according to a report by the Paraíba Online website.

For those moving to Bessa or to neighborhoods near the northern waterfront, this network of linear parks is likely to gain relevance as an option for walking, light cycling and contact with native vegetation closer to home, as the connecting works progress.
