Parque da Cidade: Aeroclube's new large green area

Under construction in the Aeroclube area, Parque da Cidade is the capital's largest recent public green-area project and is set to connect to the BR-230 highway.

Parque da Cidade is a large public green-area project being built by the João Pessoa City Hall in the Aeroclube area. According to mayor Cícero Lucena, quoted by Jampanews in October 2025, the first phase of the project called for a two-hectare area, with a connection to the BR-230 highway, a parking lot and the planting of about 500 trees, with delivery projected for March.

Construction moved forward after a court decision favorable to the project's progress, which led the City Hall to speed up the timeline for the first phase, according to an official statement published in May 2025. In February 2026, acting mayor Dinho Dowsley highlighted the simultaneous progress of the works at Parque da Cidade and at the Parque Socioambiental do Roger, another green-area project led by the municipality, both described as close to completing their first phase.

The City Hall also authorized the start of works on the second phase of Parque da Cidade, reinforcing the project's environmental commitment and anticipating an impact on urban growth in the Aeroclube area, according to an official municipal statement.

For residents of nearby neighborhoods such as Aeroclube, Bancários and surrounding areas, Parque da Cidade is expected to add to the Parahyba linear parks network as an outdoor leisure option, but it's best to follow the City Hall's channels to confirm delivery dates before planning visits.
