Restaurants specializing in seafood in the capital

Nau, Camarada Camarão, Canoa dos Camarões, Estaleiro and Gulliver appear in recent news surveys.

João Pessoa brings together restaurants that make seafood and fish the center of their menu. In the 2024 and 2025 news surveys, a few names come up repeatedly. Nau Frutos do Mar, in Manaíra, was described by Jornal da Paraíba in January 2024 as a restaurant with refined cuisine and traditional Paraíba flavors. Polêmica Paraíba, in January 2025, mentioned Nau for a lobster-and-shrimp dish for two people.

Camarada Camarão, at Mag Shopping, appears in both publications. Jornal da Paraíba presents it as a restaurant that uses shrimp in starters and main courses, besides regional fish and wines. Canoa dos Camarões, on the Manaíra waterfront, is known for its all-you-can-eat shrimp, reported by Paraíba Total in February 2025.

The Polêmica Paraíba roundup also included Estaleiro, with locations in Seixas and Bessa, The W, on the Manaíra waterfront, and Gulliver, in Cabo Branco. In every case, the data is from the date of publication — and it's worth confirming the current status before going: one of the south-coast seafood restaurants listed in 2024 guides was subject to a health-related closure order in January 2026, an episode covered in Part VI of this volume.

Menus, prices and opening hours change frequently, which is why it's best to confirm everything directly with each restaurant before visiting. This guide does not rank the restaurants and does not cite awards, since we found no officially documented recognition for them. The list is based solely on news reports published between 2024 and 2025.
